Fresh Flowers Care before Shipping:

Qing Art Gallery has its own unique way to dry, press, and preserve actual flowers before the flowers are put on the painting. Drying your wedding bouquet and any other flowers yourself is usually not easy, time consuming, and most of all risky. We recommend you ship your flowers to us right after events such as wedding ceremony, birthday party, etc. In case you have no time to do that, you could talk to your florists, and they should recommend to you how to keep your flowers fresh for a few days. The following are a few tips for your reference:

  1. Cut flower stems with a sharp knife (un-serrated) and plunge immediately into water. Always make a cut on a slant, as it exposes more stem surface area.
  2. Use plain, lukewarm water for most cut flowers, but use cold water for bulb flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips.
  3. Change the water every two days. This is the single most effective  thing you can do to keep your flowers looking fresh.
  4. Remove leaves that will be under water in the arrangement, but do not remove thorns from roses as it tends to shorten their life.
  5. Keep flowers out of direct sunlight, move them to a cool place at night.
  6. Give daffodils their own vase. Daffodil stems give off a compound that is toxic to other flowers.
  7. Keep cut flowers away from fruit, which releases a gas that causes flowers to age faster.
  8. Do not put your flowers in a freezer! When they are removed they will thaw and turn to mush...there will be nothing left to preserve.
  9. You could also go to a website to search for recommendations for keeping cut flowers fresh.
